This lovely bookmark is graced with a photograph of one of Israel's birds, the Armenian Gull. The Armenian gull winters in Israel's northern areas of the Mediterranean Sea coast. We know these birds were in the Holy Land in ancient times as they are mentioned in Deuteronomy and Leviticus.

Israel wildlife is extremely diverse. The country is located between the temperate and the tropical zones. Israel is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, there is desert, mountains, fresh water rivers and lake, and fertile fields. Due to this hugely differing environments, the species of Israel are also hugely diverse. Israel loves and cares for it wildlife establishing over 190 nature reserves throughout the small country.
