Dates Seven Species Bookmark

The date palm was an important plant to the ancient Israelite: the tree nectar was fermented into wine, the wood of the palm tree was used in construction, and the palm leaves were woven into baskets and mats. Dates are one of the Seven Species of Israel from when God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, He informed him that He would redeem the Israelites and bring them to a "good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey..." In the Scripture honey is meant to be date honey.
