Marc Chagall 12 Tribes Magnet Set
12 magnets featuring Chagall's stained glass windows
Set of beautiful magnets with images of artist Marc Chagall's stained glass windows in the Abbell Synagogue of the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. The magnets are glossy and are of a material, perfect for a refrigerator or filing cabinet.
In 1959 Chagall was commissioned to design twelve stained glass windows for the new synagogue of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center. Israel's finest hospital was to be situated in the Judean hills west of Jerusalem. The Bible was his primary inspiration, particularly Jacob's blessings on his twelve sons and Moses' blessings on the twelve tribes. Each window is dominated by a specific color and contains a quotation from the individual blessings.
"This is my modest gift to the Jewish people who have always dreamt of biblical love, friendship and of peace among all peoples. This is my gift to that people which lived here thousands of years ago among the other Semitic people." Marc Chagall, February 6, 1962
Dimensions of each magnet: 1 x 1 Inch | 2.5 x 2.5 cm each
